The Best Feeling in the World

I actually had some time to write this week. In fact… I made real progress on my NaNoWriMo story!

I’m having a lot of fun with it. I wish I could describe it, but… I’m more than a little superstitious when it comes to talking about writing projects. I always worry that, as soon as I share a plot out loud, it will sound stupid and contrived to my ears.

And then I’ll lose my momentum.

And my confidence.

And everything else it takes to write a story.

So I tend to keep mum about a manuscript until at least a first draft is done. First drafts can be terrible. That’s the point–to edit them and transform them into the vision in your mind.

But at least I’ll have all my ideas down. At least I’ll have the clay I need to sculpt.

Until then though…. All I can say is, it’s coming along. I’m currently happy with it… And, as a writer, that’s the best feeling in the world.
