No time to dwell; we’ve said farewell
To the year before.
Well wishes and kisses have all been shared.
We sang the songs of yore.
Time ticks ahead and we go to bed:
At peace within our core.
With glasses and passions now run dry,
It’s time to look ahead.
The year behind has been unkind
But all our fears and dread
Don’t cease with ball drops and new-year swaps.
No; they follow us instead.
So dive headfirst into the first
And leave behind the fuss.
Will this new year be filled with fear?
With anger and distrust?
Or will we rise above and love?
The choice is up to us.
